Clubs and boards between the Rhine and the Wupper 63

Most entries on this list are Vereine: chess clubs and the chess departments of sports clubs, each with a weekly evening in a club room, a parish hall, a senior centre or a school. In Düsseldorf they reach from the Düsseldorfer Schachverein 1854 in Niederkassel and the Düsseldorfer Schachklub 1914/25 in the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Haus to Gerresheim, Wersten, Garath, Oberbilk, Stockum and the sports park in Hassels. Wuppertal, Krefeld, Mönchengladbach and Solingen have several clubs each, and nearly every town of the four counties has at least one.

A few places are not clubs. The Chess Night at Fatty’s Irish Pub in the Altstadt is a blitz evening on the fourth Monday of the month, the zentrum plus in Holthausen keeps a chess and board-game afternoon every Tuesday, the university sports service runs a Friday chess group, and the Volkshochschule Krefeld has a Monday chess circle.
