About this list

Wuppertal has clubs in most of its districts. The Elberfelder Schach-Gesellschaft 1851 on the Konsumstraße opens its rooms on Wednesday evenings and Friday afternoons, holds the Elberfelder Winter Schach, a rated weekend open in January, held an anniversary tournament in August 2026 and played summer chess at a minigolf course in 2026 as part of the city’s Sport im Park. The Bahn-Schachclub on the Johannisberg plays on Fridays after its youth evening and runs a club blitz championship through the autumn.

The Vohwinkeler Schachclub 1929 meets on Fridays in the youth house, the Schachfreunde Vonkeln 1931 in their own clubhouse, Anna 88 at the Laurentiustreff on Thursdays, and the Ronsdorfer Schachverein, the Schachfreunde Unterbarmen and Tornado Wuppertal field league teams. The open Wuppertal blitz city championship, played on 3 October in 2024 and 2025, brings players from the Bergisches Land together.
