About this list
The groups on this page belong to schools, and only that school’s pupils can join them. Some name a day: the Schloß-Gymnasium in Benrath plays on Tuesday afternoons for years five to ten, the GGS Steinkaul has a Thursday group for years two to four, and the Bischöfliche Marienschule in Mönchengladbach, the Georg-Büchner-Gymnasium in Kaarst and the Nelly-Sachs-Gymnasium in Neuss meet on Tuesdays. Others are known from the school chess championships of Düsseldorf, Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, Solingen and the Rhein-Kreis Neuss and from the NRW finals in Hamm.
Several schools carry the German Chess School seal, among them the Regenbogenschule in Kempen and the GGS Hockstein. A child who wants to play outside school can join the youth group of a club, listed under training; some schools work with a club, such as the Gymnasium Vohwinkel with the Bahn-Schachclub Wuppertal.
